ULI Toronto has instituted a new tool for members to interact with each other: the ULI Toronto Blog. Click on the ‘continue reading’ link below to find out more.
What is a blog?
A blog can be described simply as a collection of journal entries, called “posts”, organized in reverse chronological order.
Blog examples
The best way to understand blogs is to look at some established examples. See the section called “Blogroll” in the right sidebar. The blogroll is a list of blogs covering topics likely of interest to ULI members. A good one to look at is Planetizen Interchange.
What you see on the screen
The front page of a blog lists posts by displaying the title, a teaser, and a ‘continue reading’ link. The teaser is typically a one to two paragraph excerpt. Clicking title or ‘read more’ brings you to a page displaying the full post, with a comment box at the bottom.
Commenting
This is the fun part. Blogs facilitate conversation among the post author and commenters. Depending the on the topic and participants, the discussion can meander into related issues. It can also get quite heated!
The Rules
Free, wide ranging, informed debate is a good thing. We probably all seek similar goals to improve our city and urban environment. However please ensure debate focuses on ideas, and avoids personal attacks. It is also not appropriate to use the blog for commercial purposes. Posts and comments on the ULI Toronto Blog will be moderated.
Would you like to contribute by posting?
